About Me

Hi! I’m Erica. I’m a born and bred Jersey girl, currently residing in the Garden State with my family. Like a true millennial, I enjoy coffee, starting more books than I can keep up with, and travel. I spend my free time making art, watching anime, and navigating the depths of Duolingo.

I started my career in tech in 2011, when I joined Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com. I began as a support engineer, helping bloggers of all experience levels to troubleshoot and learn as they built their websites. During my nearly 12 year tenure at Automattic, I grew into various roles, including support team lead, where I managed a team of roughly 20 people across the globe, and community specialist, where I contributed to the WordPress open source community.

In short, I’ve been immersed in WordPress, web design, and user experience for more than a decade. I like good design, and I like demystifying technology even more. I have a special knack for taking technical jargon and breaking it down into plain talk. In fact, I love watching the “light bulb moment” when others realize they can understand and achieve their online goals.

Creating a non-judgmental space that is safe for all levels is where I thrive. I think it’s how we can make more inclusive communities online and encourage people from all perspectives to contribute to the open web. I can’t wait to hear what your voice is all about.
